Armed robbery suspect arrested in Anambra (photos)

The police in have arrested a suspected who runs a syndicate that attacks unsuspecting passengers who board their tricycle and then dispose them of their personal belongings.

 

A statement released on Sunday, November 1, by the spokesperson of the command, Haruna Mohammed, said there was a distress call by one Ifejika Ogechi ‘f’ and Cheta Geoffrey’s’ that while returning from work, they were attacked with bottles and dispossessed of their phones, cash sum of N9000 by a two-man robbery syndicate operating on Keke tricycle at Okpuno Awka.

 

Haruna said that following the distress call, police operatives attached to B’ division Awka in conjunction with local vigilante group arrested one Christian Nwalieji aged 29years of Umuawa Ifite Ogwari in Ayamelum LGA but resides at City Supermarket Area Okpuno.

 

The spokesperson said the suspect confessed to the crime and is assisting the police to arrest other accomplices in order to bring them to book.

 

He added that one Keke tricycle with registration number Anambra ZBL-121-VC used in committing the act was recovered as an exhibit.
